An armed robbery occurred last night at the 7-Eleven and Chevron on Rosecrans Ave. and Valley View Ave. Two armed suspects were involved in the robbery, but only one individual was apprehended at the Rosecrans apartments. At approximately 12:38 a.m., four Campus Safety officers responded to reports they received from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department before Chief John Ojeisekhoba of Campus Safety arrived.

The suspect was identified as an armed Hispanic male at 5’11” wearing a gray shirt and black shorts. The LASD searched in the area surrounding Valley View Ave. and Rosecrans Ave before refocusing their search around the Rosecrans and La Mirada apartments at approximately 12:45 a.m.

Campus Safety texted students living in 10 Rosecrans and La Mirada apartments to remain indoors and to lock all doors. The officers kept Resident Coordinators informed as the search took place, and updated students throughout the night on the status of the search.

The LASD continued their search around the block and searched each building in the area thoroughly. The search continued until 2:02 a.m. when LASD deputies found the suspect hiding beneath a vehicle between the Rosecrans 1 and 2 apartments rear parking lot. The man was taken into custody with LASD shortly thereafter without any incident.

The other individual who was spotted at the scene of the robbery have not been found.
