As the season comes close to the end, the men’s soccer team took on the Master’s College Mustangs on Oct. 24. In a match that stretched into double overtime, the Eagles lost the first match of their conference matchups. Their 1-2 loss to the Master’s College dropped their conference record to 7-1-1. Although this match did not improve their record, hopes for the Golden State Athletic Conference division championship are still within reach for the Eagles.

After being fouled in the 32nd minute, senior forward Joey O’Keefe gave the Eagles the lead with a penalty kick. The Mustangs responded with a goal to tie the Eagles in the 70th minute, which forced the game into overtime. With only three minutes left in the last overtime period, the Mustangs scored the game winning goal and snapped the Eagles’ seven game winning streak.

In the 87 total minutes he played, junior forward Leonardo Contreras lit up the goal with five goal attempts throughout the game. Another player who was a threat on the Eagles’ offense was senior midfielder John Hanscom, who played 94 minutes and made two shot attempts.

The Eagles wrap up their season with a trip to the desert to take on the Arizona Christian College Firestorm on Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
