With the fate of their season on the line, the Eagles took on the Vanguard University Lions in a crucial match in the Golden State Athletic Conference division race. It has been three games since they overtook Vanguard for first place in their division and their victory over the Lions improved their conference record to 7-0-1.

In the low scoring match against the Lions, the scoreboard remained empty until the second half. With a valuable opportunity and an open net, senior forward Stephen Tanquary made the only goal of the match in the 70th minute. His goal won the game for the Eagles 1-0, adding another match to their seven game winning streak.

Tanquary’s goal was one of the three shots he made in the match, and senior midfielder Joey O’Keefe and sophomore midfielder Sammy McKay also made multiple shots. O’Keefe painted the goalie box with two shots on goal out of three shots and McKay finished the game with two shots.

Both teams ended with 13 total shots made, but the Eagles’ defense did an incredible job keeping the ball out of the goal by blocking 11 shots in the first half and two in the second half.

With only a few games left in the regular season, the Eagles will travel to Santa Clarita to take on the third place Master’s College on Oct. 21 at 4:00 pm.
