SAME-DAY PROPOSAL

  • Senators approved a proposal from Associated Students clubs coordinator Brett Kobold, a junior, to amend the constitution and convert the unpaid AS clubs assistant coordinator to a paid position. The clubs assistant does almost as much work as clubs coordinator, especially during the beginning of the semester, according to Kobold, but works as a volunteer.

Constitutional changes require a two-thirds majority vote in order to go into effect. Two people abstained from voting.

PASSED

  • Senators approved a proposal requesting $800 for a barbecue for residents of the Bluff. The barbecue has taken place for three years and was so well-received last year that residents requested it to take place once a semester instead of once a year, said senior Dani Decena, Bluff senator.

“That money will go a lot further helping [the residents] than it will for us, just sitting around in our bank account,” said sophomore Brady Brewster, South Horton senator.
