Biola men’s tennis team played a rare night match at home against Hastings College of Nebraska on March 10, taking an impressive 7-2 victory over the Broncos.

The men had a fantastic run in singles play, sweeping the Broncos in all six matchups. Junior Lucas Lee started off on the No. 1 court with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Tim Fischer. In the next match junior David Garcia took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ben Petry on the No. 6 court. Philip Westwood, a junior, then took a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mark Gueswell on the No. 2 court. The rest of the singles players all took wins as well completing a 6-0 sweep in singles for the Eagles.

Biola then moved on to doubles play, virtually unneeded as they had already garnered more than the five matches to win the the match. Regardless, the Eagles opened up with an 8-4 win when Lee and freshman Derek James defeated Fischer and Razvan Dobrin on the No. 1 court. The Broncos would win the next two in dramatic fashion, both by scores of 9-8, but the Eagles’ single play propelled them to a 7-2 win.

The men return to play March 11 at 12 p.m. at Hope International University. They improved to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
