The stats sheet spoke for itself at the end of the game on Sept. 29 against the San Diego Christian College Hawks. Freshman outside hitter Alyx Dunham finished with 18 kills and a phenomenal .586 attacking percentage. Those numbers have earned her the second-best spot on the team for both the amount of kills in a three-set match and kill percentage in a single match for this season.

“Everybody in their career has one of those nights where everything works and everything they touch is gold,” said head coach Aaron Seltzer. “And that was her night.”

Dunham had a fantastic night, but San Diego Christian forced the Eagles to work hard for the win. Biola’s two middles in particular, junior Ally Forsberg and senior Olivia Sorensen, had rough nights, finishing with a combined four kills and a .000 average kill percentage.

“It was just a night where we just hit a lot of balls out of bounds,” Seltzer said. “Go away from that and find somebody else. And that’s what a team is for. We pick each other up.”

Dunham did her part, as did sophomore outside Hannah van Warmerdam, who finished the night with an almost equally as impressive 16 kills and a .407 kill percentage. The transfer from Texas A&M Corpus Christi increases her team-leading kills up to 242 on the season.

Biola’s record moves to 14-7 for the season and 5-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play. They continue a streak of home games with their next match on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. against the Vanguard University Lions.
