Biola’s cross country teams continued to fly out of the gate with another strong showing at the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 17.

Sophomore Ryan Thompson led the way for the men, finishing 39th overall with a time of 25 minutes and 23 seconds in the 8,000 meter. Junior Miles Brubaker and freshman Gabe Plendcio also finished in the top 50.

Senior Lyndee Dawson maintained her recent hot streak on the women’s side, finishing fifth out of 250 participants from all levels of NAIA and NCAA competition in the women’s 5,000 meter. Dawson, named NAIA Female Cross Country Runner of the Week on Thursday, posted a time of 17 minutes and 41 seconds.

Biola’s dominance continued down the leaderboard of the 5,000, as eight lady Eagles finished in the top 50. Overall, the Biola women finished second only to the University of Arkansas in team scores with 63 points.

The Eagles will next race at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem, Ore. on Oct. 1.
