After nearly a full month off from competition, the Biola men’s golf team took to the links again on Oct. 17 in Prescott, Ariz. for the Embry-Riddle Co-Ed Invite. After the first round, the Eagles sit in a comfortable third place out of the eight teams represented, sitting only one stroke behind second place and seven behind the leader.

Sophomore Austin Bishop performed the best for Biola on day one, finishing one under par — only one of two players in the entire field to finish under par. His score of 71 marks his lowest score on the season so far and ties the season low from junior Samuel Shih.

Shih finished in a tie for sixth place overall with a 75, placing him three over par for the first round.

Sophomore Kyle McAbee finished third for Biola and 16th overall with a score of 79, or seven over par.

In a three-way tie for 23rd came junior Cameron Bauer, who shot 10 over par at 82 for the day.

Sophomore Dominic Ariondo brought up the rear for the Eagles, finishing day one in a tie for 26th out of the 45-man field with an 83 that puts him 11 over par.

The Eagles are within easy striking distance of the second place Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles, and play their second round at Talking Rock Golf Club on Oct. 18.
