Eating options evaluated

In a meeting with Bon Appetit, senators discuss menus for Heritage Cafe and North Hall cafeteria.

This week’s Associated Students Senate meeting began with a proposal from Ashley Panko, vice president of AS, for the appointment of two new senators — Zane Henderson, junior political science major, and Greg Ambrose, freshman english major. In a same day vote, the senators passed Panko’s proposal for Henderson and Ambrose to represent Emerson and Hope South as senators.

Tyler Hormel, president of AS, discussed a new change in open gym hours beginning Feb. 6. A campus safety officer will be present during open gym to monitor students and check ID’s. Students must bring their own equipment to the gym and visitors are not allowed. The spring dates for open gym are now available on the AS website.

During a basketball game against Concordia on Feb. 21, President Barry Corey and Tyler Hormel will participate in a two-on-two basketball game against Kurt Krueger, president of Concordia University Irvine, and Scott Esswein, president of Associated Students at Concordia University Irvine. Corey proposed the two-on-two match to Krueger to encourage friendly rivalry between Biola and CUI.

Steve Rall, general manager of Bon Appetit, informed the senators of the progress on the construction of the Heritage Cafe and the cafeteria in North Hall. The Heritage Cafe will serve Starbucks drinks, along with a juice bar. The cafeteria in North Hall will serve breakfast all day until 1 a.m.

PROPOSALS

Mark Nesbitt, music and arts coordinator, proposed $12,000 to fund the Eddy, which will take place in three weeks.

VOTING

In a same day vote, the senator’s passed Nesbitt’s proposal to fund the Eddy.
