Eagles soar past Hawks

The Eagles came back from a four point deficit in the first half to beat the Hawks.

The Eagles took the court against the San Diego Christian College Hawks for their first Golden State Athletic Conference matchup of the season. After beating the Hawks, the Eagles are now 9-1 overall and started off their GSAC record 1-0.

By the end of the first half Biola trailed the Hawks by four, despite the offensive efforts put on by junior guard Daraki Archer, who scored 11 points. However, the Eagles kept the Hawks to 26 points, outscoring San Diego by 13. By the final buzzer, Biola topped San Diego 72-63.

After scoring 11 in the first half, Archer went on to score 11 more in the second half totalling 22 points. Another high scorer in the game against San Diego was senior guard Terrell Funches. Although Funches only scored six points in the first half, he contributed over half of the Eagles’ points in the second. Funches ended the game with a total of 20 points.

Coming off of their first GSAC victory, the Eagles prepare to go back down to San Diego to play an exhibition game against San Diego State University on Dec. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
