The first 67 minutes of play was highlighted by dominant defense by both sides. However, with 23 minutes left of regulation, the University of Mobile opened the defensive floodgates and scored two goals within ten minutes of each other. Freshman phenom and defender Madyson Brown would tally Biola’s only score. Unfortunately, the Eagles’ effort was not enough to overcome the two goal deficit.

The first half of Monday evening’s game was rather static on offense as neither team’s defense gave an inch to each other. There were only a total of five shots allowed the whole first half.

The second half was a different story for both offense and defense for both teams. It opened up with a flurry of offensive opportunities by each team. Biola and Mobile combined a total of 22 shots taken, a whopping 17 more compared to the first half.

The game was a very physical one for the Eagles as a total of 13 fouls were called, nine committed by Mobile.

Down two scores with less than five minutes of play, Brown headed in a pass from junior forward Taylor Venegas to give the GSAC Newcomer of the year her first goal of her young career. However, Brown’s goal was too late to make a comeback as Biola was not able to find another goal.

The loss marks the end of the women’s 2015 soccer season. Yet, the season was a success, highlighted by winning the GSAC Conference, finishing with a winning record of 15-4-3 and reaching the second round of the NAIA National Tournament for the first time since 2004.
