Trying to find a show to watch on Netflix might be more difficult than a 400 level math class, especially with the ever-changing catalogue of movies and TV shows the streaming site has to offer. Luckily, I have the study guide for the best new shows and movies Netflix has added in the month of September.

TV DRAMAS

“Switched at Birth” is an amazing show in which two girls are, you guessed it,  switched at birth. This show brings the Deaf and hearing communities together, great for anyone studying American Sign Language. The show also includes plot twists and cliffhangers that will keep you pressing “one more episode.” Check out the third season, now on Netflix.

“Parenthood” brings together a dysfunctional family and makes them loveable. This show portrays families of all different walks of life and intertwines them. Drama and good times abound along with tears and tough times. Viewers will become attached to characters like they never have before as they break your heart and put it back together all in the span of a forty minute episode.

THROWBACKS

“Flubber” starring the late Robin Williams. Relive childhood with a wonderful, family-friendly movie that warms the heart. Have some fun watching Flubber cause mayhem while forgetting about the mayhem of the semester.

“School of Rock” provides a rocking time. Jack Black takes a class of uptight prep school students and turns them into rock legends. Black tugs at the heart and forces you to root for the underdog. Relive the rocking times of elementary school with some classic tunes.

ROMANTIC COMEDY

What happens when a man who cannot get over his cheating wife meets a woman who will not forget her late husband? You get “Silver Linings Playbook.” This movie shows heart in a dark situation. Two broken hearts collide and two lives come together. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence kill it in this romantic comedy that wins over any heart.
