The volleyball team took on the Cougars of Cal State San Marcos on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The Eagles won the match in three consecutive sets with scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19. Biola improved their overall record to 20-4.

The first set started off close, but then Biola got on a roll and were able to run away with a 25-16 victory. The second set remained a close battle until the Eagles rallied to win 25-19. The third set finished with a score of 25-19 as well, but proved much more dominating than the second set as the Cougars had to put together a late rally just to come within five points of the Eagles.

Junior outside hitter Joclyn Kirton led the Eagles with 12 kills and senior middle blocker Amy Weststeyn trailed with eight kills and three blocks.

“We were going to play consistent and play our game,” Weststeyn said.

The Eagles accomplished their goal of playing consistent as they were able to win all three sets and never trailed by more than four points in the entire game.

Junior outside hitters Alyssa Mason and Britta Blaser each had seven kills and three blocks to aid in the Eagles’ dominating victory.

“We were pretty good with not having any errors,” said Mason, on Biola’s clean victory. In fact, the Eagles had no attack errors throughout all three sets, helping secure the victory.

Biola’s next game is at home on Thursday, Oct. 23 against the reigning NAIA National Champions of the University of Texas at Brownsville.
