Biola women’s soccer team squared off against the William Jessup University Warriors in their second game of the week. Boasting an impressive record of 9-1, the Eagles looked to extend their winning streak to four.

The battle ensued early, with both teams exchanging equal scoring opportunities. Not until the 27 minute mark did Biola strike first with senior midfielder Amanda Lillicrop sending the ball screaming past the Warrior’s goaltender.

The initial strike was skillfully assisted by sophomore forward Margaret Guadarrama, who sprung Lillicrop on a breakaway with a perfectly placed pass. In the final minutes of the first half the warriors pushed forward causing senior goalkeeper Briana Williams to make an amazing diving save.

Lillicrop recorded another point on the board at the 51 minute mark resulting from a skirmish in front of the net. The Warriors quickly answered back at the 59 minute mark when senior forward Cara Eskenazi headed the ball past Williams. Not until the 83 minute mark did Biola secure the victory with Guadarrama scoring off an assist from Lillicrop.

“Just teamwork, there were some things we didn’t do that well but we were capitalizing on the things we did do well.” Guadarrama said.

With this 3-1 victory the Eagles remain at the top of the Golden State Athletic Conference and look to stay on top on Oct. 8 when they face off against The Master’s College at home.
