AS Senate Rundown: Aug. 28

The senate discussed upcoming events and new technology at their first meeting of the semester.

The first Associated Students senate meeting began with a preview of upcoming events within the next month including Splash!, Serve Day, Clubs Fair and Nationball.

Cal Calica, the diversity liaison, informed the senators about the Back to School Kick-Off hosted at the Mosaic Cultural Center on August 29 from 2-4 p.m. The event intends to introduce students to the Mosaic Cultural Center and the services they offer.

PROPOSAL

Anders Corey, vice-president of marketing and communication, made the first proposal of the year for an aerial drone and action camera. AS would use the camera and drone to capture events such as Nationball, Mock Rock and Torrey Conference.

“This is something that could bring us above and beyond what students are expecting,” Corey said.

The cost of the GoPro camera, DJI drone, a four-year warranty and accessories amounts to $1,615.

VOTING

In a same day vote, the senate passed Corey's proposal in full amount of $1,615.
