Both tennis teams clinched two important wins over the weekend. The women’s team defeated Concordia University and the men topped Arizona Christian on Friday. Unfortunately, the men were not able to produce the same results as the women and fell to Concordia the next day. The women’s season moves up to 7-14 overall and the men’s go to 8-12.

The women’s team went up against No. 13 Concordia on Saturday. Biola was able to win the singles matches needed to take the entire match 5-4.

Sophomores Kathryn Ashford and Susan Carmichael continued with their dynamic season as doubles partners and won the first match of the day 8-3. Freshman Kelsey Post and junior Lauren Vogel were also able to pull out a win 8-5.

Ashford and Carmichael went on to win their singles matches. Biola sealed the win when senior Maura Lopez defeated her opponent in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

The men are on their way to a historic season after the 7-2 defeat over Arizona Christian. Unfortunately, the Eagles hit a snag the next day and dropped 0-9 to Concordia.

The Eagles trumped Arizona Christian on Friday. Freshman Lucas Lee won both his doubles and singles match to help the Eagles win 7-2.

On Saturday, the Eagles had a tough time matched up against No. 11 Concordia and could not clinch a win.

The women will travel to Westmont College on Friday for their final match before the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament starting at 3 p.m. The men will face Azusa Pacific University on Friday, starting at 1:30 p.m.
