Women’s soccer tallied six goals Tuesday afternoon in Scottsdale, Ariz. in their 6-0 victory over Arizona Christian University.

The win was an offensive spectacle for the Eagles, who had scored only twice in their past four games.

Senior forward Chrissy King and freshman forward Taylor Venegas each scored a brace, King in the 18th and 60th minute and Venegas in the 17th and 51st. King also assisted Venegas in her first goal.

Other Eagles adding to the scoresheet included junior midfielder Amanda Lillicrop, who scored the first goal for Biola in the fifth minute and also assisted King. Lillicrop’s goal was the quickest scored so far this season for the Eagles.

Senior midfielder Morgan Aukshunas also picked up a goal in the 36th minute and added an assist as well.

In total, the Eagles had 26 shots, 10 of them on goal, and picked up nine corners.

A BIG MOMENTUM SHIFT

Starting goalkeeper Briana Williams only had to make one save in the first half. The junior was replaced in the second half by sophomore Marina Rodriguez, who made four saves.

The Firestorm just never had enough momentum to get anything going. ACU tallied just seven shots all game and didn’t have a single corner.

The Eagles’ defensive line led by senior Michelle Andre proved solid throughout the entire game, preventing Arizona Christian from going at the goal.

The win was a huge statement for the Eagles who, prior to the game, had dropped back-to-back Golden State Athletic Conference matches against No. 13 Master’s College and Concordia University Irvine. The win improves the Eagles to 7-4-0 and gives them their first conference win.

Biola returns home for a weekend matchup against No. 3 Westmont College. The last game between these two was the end of last season during the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament when the unranked Eagles upset No.14 Westmont to advance in the tournament.

Undefeated Westmont will surely be looking for revenge this Saturday at 7 p.m. following Biola’s spoiling their season in 2012.
