A car chase ended in a crash at the intersection of Biola Avenue and Stage Road at 7 p.m tonight. A section of Stage Road was closed for approximately an hour and a half.

The 25-year-old suspect, Jeremy Cass, was driving his 40-year-old girlfriend’s red pickup truck. She reported it stolen and the police subsequently went after the vehicle. A Buena Park police car bumped the vehicle Cass was driving, which then hit a curb and crashed into a bush, according to the suspect’s brother.

“I was driving my daughter to softball practice and on my way back on Figueras Road,” witness Francine Ramirez said. “I just saw a bunch of police cars and the chase.”

According to Buena Park Police Department watch commander Lt. Gary Worrall, Cass was driving a 2001 Ford Ranger and was pulled over since the truck had been reported as stolen. He then attempted to run over the officer and subsequently led other officers on a pursuit. Four officers and a supervisor responded to the chase, as well as Los Angeles County sheriffs.

“A pursuit intervention technique [was used], and he hit a curb,” Worrall said. “The chase ended at 7 p.m. There were no injuries.”

Stage Road remained closed until 8:30 p.m. Cass’ charges have not been filed, but he has been arrested for assaulting a police officer, which is a felony.

I live next to Jeremy and have known him for around 20 years. This is not the Jeremy I know.I know he had problems in school when he was younger.I believe he's a pretty good kid.I think he must of been drinking or something because I have never seen violence in him in my life.I think people should just believe this to be an anomaly and he's in alot of trouble. He will do his time like all in La mirada.I know from our strong police presense that La Mirada is very safe.
