Even with speakers still in session, many students flee Biola University’s campus right after fulfilling their eight Torrey Conference credits, or less in some cases. So where does everyone go? For some, it is a break that only comes once a year. For others, it is just a normal weekend.

In conversations on campus, these are some of the places students choose to go. Whether you were able to get away or not, when next semester’s conference comes along, keep these suggestions in mind.

But please don’t forsake the conference completely — that only comes once a year, too.

Traveling away

  • The Grand Canyon. Only eight hours away, this is a sight that you cannot leave the western part of the country without seeing.
  • Las Vegas. Seniors Jeremy Hubin and Zack Campbell traveled to Vegas to work on their joint senior project, Animal Fiction, accompanied by a group of film students. Only four hours away, this is a city many desire to travel to.

Staying local

  • Disneyland. This is a great option if you stay local, or if you have family and friends come to visit. It’s so close and worth going to in order to make the memories.
  • The beach. With tens of beaches literally within an hour of the campus, you could spend a day or a whole weekend there. Check out Malibu and Newport for camping options.
  • A quiet campus. For those who stay here, the campus is quieter than most weekends. Everything still functions normally, there are just a lot less distractions. What a perfect place to practice sabbathing.
