While Biolans around the world enjoyed Christmas, the New Year and a break from school (or, for some, working to pay the Biola bill), news was still happening on campus. Here were some of the biggest headlines of interterm.

  • Dave Koontz, senior director of financial management and reporting, will step in as Biola’s chief financial officer when 22-year-veteran Carl Schreiber leaves the post this semester.
  • Metzger announced the dissolution of the School of Professional Studies, which is composed of the BOLD degree completion and the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership programs. Current students can finish their degrees, but no new students will be accepted, and the programs will be completely phased out by June 2013.
  • 2006 graduate Justin Key, who helped launch the Biola chapter of the California School Project, died Dec. 14 after being hospitalized for a severe case of the flu.
  • Biola’s men’s basketball team, currently boasting a 20-1 season record, continued to dominate opponents. The team remained undefeated until a 10-point loss against Concordia University Jan. 16. The biggest beat-down the Eagles gave was against Hope International University on Jan. 26 — Biola won 83-42.
