The two ATM machines on Biola’s campus will soon be replaced with new ones that will be faster, safer and no longer require envelopes for making deposits.

“We are planning to change the old ATM machine to a new one and as for the ATM machine in the library, it won’t be replaced with a new one, but it will be modified in the systems,” said Chelsea Shelby, Coordinator of Trusts, Investments and Estate Services. “We are planning to modify the system of depositing money through envelopes.”

According to Shelby, the new ATM machines will have a camera in case of fraudulent incidences.

“Due to these new cameras we’ll be able to identify and track down anyone who withdrew money,” said Shelby.

She added that they were originally planning to have the machine in by this Friday, but due to some technical difficulties the ATM machine will be delivered later in September.

Most of the students responded happily to this new project.

“I think it’s a great idea because it will speed up the process for students to deposit their money without having to wait for a long time,” said sophomore Joseph Lee.

“I think the [new ATM machines] will save paper and please those people who are crazy about trees,” said freshman Briana Stewart.

“I usually have to grab a ride from someone on the floor to run to a bank every other week; soon I don’t have to be a hassle anymore,” said sophomore Chelsea Hugel.

Shelby said there will be instructions on pamphlets and posters near the machines to help students when using the new machines.

“[ATM machines] should run quicker and more efficient,” Shelby said. “The new machines will be nicer to have and nicer to use…there won’t be any major changes and it will operate just as well as the old ones.”
