Students on their way to Sutherland Auditorium Sunday night were surprised to find Singspiration relocated under the bell tower. The event was in commemoration of the recent passing of Biola’s president emeritus Clyde Cook.

According to AS President Jared Glib, “the bell towers was that for a lof of us, that’s where we first met Dr. Cook when he gave his communion address every year. I know for me personally that the communion service was a very special time where I really felt a part of a Christ centered community.”

Gathered under and around the bell tower, a remembrance of the place many students were first introduced and welcomed to Biola by Dr. Cook, stood a community of students, faculty, and guests to spend time in worship together. The hour spent in praise and prayer, led by a student worship band, allowed for reflection on the life lived by Dr. Cook and the God that he lived to serve.

I thought it was a very special night for students to gather and praise God in light of our great loss. I think Dr. Cook would have been really happy to see his students worshipping together as the body of Christ,” said Glib.

The event relocation was made possible by the Event Services staff who set up everything on very short notice. When asked to prepare the event they replied, “Anything for Dr. Cook.”
